ZERUST® AxxaClean™ 2048

ZERUST® AxxaClean™ 2048 is a moderate-acting, nonhazardous safe rust remover designed to effectively eliminate rust and tarnish from metal surfaces, including hard-to-reach areas. In addition to cleaning ferrous metals, it is also highly effective at deoxidizing and brightening red metals, aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, and galvanized substrates. With a pH of approximately 2.5, similar to a soft drink, AxxaClean™ 2048 simplifies handling and disposal while delivering strong performance.

Rust Removers

ZERUST® AxxaClean™ 2048 safe rust remover is engineered to remove medium levels of rust and oxidation while maintaining compatibility with a wide range of materials. Its formulation allows it to penetrate into tight spaces, making it ideal for complex parts, assemblies, and components with intricate geometries.

After cleaning and drying, metal surfaces are ready for immediate downstream processes such as painting or welding. For optimal results, it is recommended to rinse treated parts with a 5% solution of ZERUST® AxxaVis™ HST-10 and thoroughly dry using clean, filtered compressed air.

To prevent future corrosion after treatment, cleaned parts can be protected using ZERUST® VCI packaging materials such as films and papers. For metals prone to rapid re-oxidation, including cast iron, the use of ZERUST® rust preventatives such as Axxanol™ or Axxatec™ is recommended.

Despite its strong rust removal capabilities, this safe rust remover is generally compatible with painted surfaces, rubber, gaskets, and many plastics. However, testing prior to full application is recommended to ensure compatibility with specific materials and finishes.

Metal Types:

ZERUST® AxxaClean™ 2048 safe rust remover is suitable for ferrous metals and yellow metals. Testing is recommended prior to use on aluminum, magnesium, and zinc to ensure compatibility.

Handling:

  • Suitable for use in immersion, brush, or spray applications
  • Do not allow the product to dry on the surface
  • Rinse thoroughly with high-quality water (recommended DI or RO water) after application
  • For optimal results, rinse with a 5% solution of ZERUST® AxxaVis™ HST-10
  • Remove excess liquid using a clean cloth or dry with clean, filtered compressed air
  • Ensure parts are fully dried before further processing or protection
